Zahnheiser has juxtaposed Jonathan Edwards 18th-century essay, “The Nature of True Virtue” with a series of photographs from lots of land for sale. The photographs paired with the introductory part of the essay are grainy, sentimental images of farmland and open road. Once the essay turns into the link between virtue and value, the photograph are crisp, stark close-ups of signs advertising lots for sale.
