We’re pleased to announce a new fundraising edition with artist Paul Mpagi Sepuya, debuting at the Printed Matter booth at Art Basel Miami and via our website here.

The work from Sepuya, Darkroom Mirror with Roses at Night, builds on the artist’s interest in portraiture, collage and reflection as a way to explore homoerotic visual culture. The image presents a quiet view of the artist’s outstretched hand in front of a dark velvet backdrop, with the traces of human touch visible on the surface of a studio mirror. A series of paper cut-outs depicting illuminated roses break up the frame and obscure the camera’s lens, exploring the complexity of viewing and delving into queer intimacy.

Darkroom Mirror with Roses at Night, 2018, C-print, 9 x 13 inches, edition of 30.
