Woman Life Freedom T shirts with Rirkrit Tiravanija font.
“Iran protests erupted on September 16th 2022 following brutal murder of Mahsa Amini , a young Iranian woman visiting Tehran from a small town in Kurdistan l, by the morality police of Iran for not covering her hair properly.
Iran is one of the very few countries in the world where Hijab, head covering for women, is obligatory … since Mahsa’s brutal murder, Iranians of every social class, age and gender have been out everyday protesting the archaic laws of the Islamic Republic , the response of the regime has been bullets and prisons…
Almost 500 people have been killed in Iran since the beginning of the protests , 20,000 people have been arrested, and the regime has started to execute some protestors without proper access to lawyer and justice.
The initial demand was abolition of hijab laws but after the brutal crackdown of the protests, people now want the fall of the Islamic Republic which has been failing them since the last 43 years … things are changing and the UN agreed to look thoroughly into human rights violations by Iranian regime against protestors , Islamic Republic was also eliminated from UN’s commission for women’s rights.
This is truly a feminist citizen movement, happening in streets of Iran, with the initial slogan of “WOMAN LIFE FREEDOM ».
We , at studio Tiravanija, did these T shirts with our font and design to raise awareness about this issue which has been covered very little in the western media.
By wearing these around and share it with your network and community you’d be contributing to a cause which is precious to all Iranians all over the world and is being fought by Iranians in Iran daily … for their freedom!
The proceeds from sales will be donated to Woman Life Freedom Collective (their IG handle is @womanlifefreedomcollective) in Berlin which is doing an amazing job around the Iran cause. They do preparations and productions for demonstrations all around Europe, talks and lectures and raising awareness around this feminist movement which is now becoming a global fight.” - Rirkrit Tiravanija Studio
