This beautifully designed publication from Tadej Pogačar and P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. presents a retrospective of the long-term collaborative art project CODE:RED from its international debut at the 49th Venice Biennale to today. CODE:RED is a dialogous, multidisciplinary, and educational project that deploys research-based exhibitions and interventionist performances that speak directly to the art world on the socioeconomic marginality and rights of sex workers within their international and local contexts.
Documentation of CODE:RED installations, performances, and protests in Italy, America, Brazil, Spain, and more are paired with art historical criticism, theoretical feminist essays, and excerpts from the SEX WORKER newspaper. The essays are printed in English and Slovene translations and include “Why Sexuality is Work” by Silvia Federici, “The Nexus of Art and Activism” by Melissa Ditmore, “CODE:RED and the Art World,” and “Art ↔️ Work ↔️ Sex or Tadej Pogačar’s Project CODE:RED” by Suzana Milevska.
