Civilization: A Future History of New York: Vol. 1, No. 3
Borne of designer Richard Turley’s want for a magazine that spoke to the everyday experiences of living in New York City, Civilization emerged. This NYC-focused newspaper, though the brainchild of Turley, is realized through partnership with filmmaker Mia Kerin and artist Lucas Mascatello, who co-edit the publication. In this broadsheet newspaper, content is tightly packed together on every page with words spilling out of columns, punctuated by photographs, illustrations, diagrams, and sections of bright purple text. As past contributor Perrin Drumm put it: “it reads like it feels to live in New York City.”
Topics in Issue 3 include: Nightcoregirl, World War Two, New Models, The Void, Body Shaming, Amos Poe, Hygiene, Pee Stories, Keeping Score, Toph Tucker, Eric Johnson, Old Man Sex, Memoirs, Edging, GFOTY, Maria Forque, Dumb Hot Guys, Braulio, A City MD, Office Reviews, Bed Time Stories, A Love Affair as Google Doc, Diagrams drawn, Events Memorialized, stuff.
