Artist and writer Sally Alatalo is founder of Sara Ranchouse, a publishing company devoted to putting out artist books in inexpensive paperback formats. They aim to provide opportunities for interaction with art in everyday experience through the medium of the book, which can accessibly reside within a multitude of places. The company co-opts events such as signings and book releases, as occasions for performative play. They exercise a sustainable practice, while sustaining the material world at large, by recycling everything from extant texts, to paper cut-offs and make-ready sheets, to coffee grounds.
