Join artist Erik Hanson for a signing of his most recent book, 2 YEARS OF BLUTO, published on occasion of his show currently on view at Marlborough Contemporary through March 23rd, 2019.

2 YEARS OF BLUTO features 240 paintings made over a 2 year period as well as a conversation between scholars David Getsy and Ramzi Fawaz. 2 YEARS OF BLUTO is a limited edition, multi process, hand assembled ’zine designed by Matt Plezier/Mono Rhetorik, the recipient of Printed Matter’s 2018 Shannon Michael Caine award at NYABF.

In January of 2017, self-taught artist Erik Hanson decided to try something new. He set aside the conceive/execute way of working and decided to live in the moment with no plans and no internal critique, giving himself the freedom to do whatever he wanted to do in the studio with no road-map. Within the first week a friend had sent him an image of a Bluto toy and as he painted it, Hanson soon found himself immersed in the concepts he had learned as a little kid parked in front of the TV. The floodgates opened and he was on his way to a monumental meditation on “Good Guys and Bad Guys”.

54 pages, risograph and digital print, with foldouts and a postcard cardboard dust jacket all hand stapled and folded. In a signed/numbered edition of 100.
