Hanuman Books was founded by Raymond Foye and Francesco Clemente in 1986. Based out of the Chelsea Hotel in New York and Madras, India, Hanuman published small, handmade books, primarily of works by contemporary avant-garde writers and rare translations. Sized to resemble a miniature Indian prayer book, each Hanuman publication features the title and author’s name in gold leaf.

WHO KNOWS by Francis Picabia is a rare english-language translation of Picabia’s poetry. A true Dadaist, Picabia’s poetry is belligerent, abstract, and sometimes bewildering.

A SUPERFICIAL ESTIMATION by John Wieners captures his surreal and experimental drug-related poetry through lyrical musings on mid-century female celebrities.
