A Thousand Pieces is a story in which writing is a playful and ephemeral process that dissipates over time, becomes confused with reality, and is suffused with hyperlinks. Here, reading is seen as an archeological dig—one in which the reader must actively work to unearth possible meanings from a text layered with footnotes, anecdotes, citations, and illustrations.
