Despair and Die is an artist book that explores the theme of grief through the lens of everyday life aesthetics, drawing inspiration from trivial and marginalized spaces and expressions. The book features a fragmented narrative created by assembling common Farsi idioms, drawings, and photographs from family archives and online sources.
Through the use of visual and symbolic representations of grief, the book challenges tired cliches that are often used to express universal emotions, pushing the limits of what they are able to convey. I actively question the boundaries of these cliches, highlighting their limitations and exploring new ways to represent and understand grief.
