sorry zero, sorry not sorry, 2019
sorry zero, sorry not sorry was produced as the ticket edition on the occasion of the 2019 NYABF Opening Night.
English loan words are often used to partially express a concept in American Sign Language (ASL), which has its own syntax and grammar. One side of this printed, die-cut rubber eraser shows an English version, and the other side shows the phrase in ASL. Both have the same meaning. Give zero sorries. Erase away with no guilt!
Berlin-based artist Christine Sun Kim (b.1980, California) approaches the concept of sound via deconstructive exercises, experiments, and observations through drawing, painting, and performance. Her work has been exhibited and performed at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Modern, London; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles; and White Space, Beijing, among other spaces, and is currently included in the 2019 Whitney Biennial.
Opening night ticket sales support Printed Matter’s year-round work of providing resources to artists and championing the artists’ book medium through programs including the NY and LA Art Book Fairs.
