“Installments Issue 13 is a multimedia, interdisciplinary project that integrates pop-up book, collage, diary exchange, daily news, and readymade assemblage. Belying its snug size, Installments can barely contain itself, never failing to be chock-full of image and text. This issue is littered with fashion and magazine snippets, guidelines (visual and textual) for swimming, and Chinese-Boy Scout mash-ups. These socio-political components are interspersed with droves of images and found objects, connected to the written topics by varying degrees of graphic association.
Since each book of each edition is handmade and unique, variations in specific content and composition will vary, but at least do not be surprised if you happen to find in your copy: stamps from Afghanistan, acrylic paint, a found photograph from the 1980s, ribbons, matches, or a user manual for a dosimeter to monitor ionizing radiation in the event of a radiological incident. A delight to the eyes, touch, and the collector’s instinct, this subversive hodgepodge forms a dense treasure trove of lived experience.”
