Ritika (Raju) is a zine by photographer Nick Sethi published by innen in Zürich in 2019. Ritika (Raju) is a book of photographed portraits of a transgender woman named Ritika (Raju) in India. The black and white photographs in this zine show Ritika (Raju) with her family and friends, applying makeup, and navigating the city. This zine is an intimate portrait of one woman’s life in India which focuses on moments of beauty and belonging.
Nick Sethi is an internationally renowned photographer based in New York City. Sethi was born in the United States and of Indian descent. He has made numerous trips to India over the course of his lifetime where he often takes photographs of people and urban environments. In 2018, he authored Khichdi (Kitchari) which was a major monograph exploring India’s rapidly changing identity, focusing on gender, technology, and the balance of traditional Indian and western culture. This publication was shortlisted for the 2018 Aperture/Paris Photo First Photobook Award.
Innen is an independent publisher in Zürich, who promotes Swiss and international contemporary artists, with a focus on unconventional perspectives on art and culture.
