The Land—subtitled “An occasional magazine about land rights”—is written by and for people who believe that the roots of justice, freedom, social security and democracy lie not so much in access to money, or to the ballot box, as in access to land and its resources.
Published biannually, each issue of The Land takes a theme. Issue No. 14’s is Grasslands and Uplands, with a specific focus on these landforms in the United Kingdom, where the magazine is based. Subjects include the uplands of Wales, the future of Britain’s native ponies, and efforts of rewilding—the restoration of land to its natural and uncultivated state—in Norfolk.
This issue features front and back cover artwork by Joan Sampson and Sarah van Niekerk, respectively.
