In the beginning of this publication Aubrey Theobald states, “I started to pay more attention to traffic cones in hopes of inserting more care into a seemingly redundant daily routine.”
In Bad Conez, an archival book that presents the documentation of any and all “Bad Traffic Conez” the artist came by, Theobald presents a collection of black-and-white and color images of traffic cones taken by herself, as well as loved ones who knew of her project. Whether fallen over, crushed, or wearing a wig, all of Theobald’s Bad Traffic Conez have the character of existing outside the norm, a quality to which she dedicates her publication.
Each edition comes with a series of images of poems, illustrations, photographs, and textual excerpts bound to the front cover, which relate to themes of color, discovery, examination, and daily affects.
