The Sign Show published this wearable as part of its public-art collaboration with two Ohio museums during the heated run-up to Election Day 2016. The joint “I-71 Project” (September-November) installed road-signage artworks to engage and critique political rhetoric in a key swing state. McGinness was one of nine artists with work in Cincinnati and/or Columbus, and on the interstate corridor connecting those cities. The Sign Show debuted “Re-elect Skull & Bones” in 2015 on a Missouri I-70 billboard and matching bumper sticker. McGinness’s design then “travelled” with the Sign Show to an Ohio I-71 billboard and this complementary campaign-style pin.
