Two beautiful Risograph books made during the 14 day Art Prison residency at Knust Press and Extrapool. The first is a bold sequence of images depicting a volcano eruption, with vibrant orange and yellow emanations bursting from the rich, earthy layerings of green and blue. The focus widens until the eruption gives way to a painterly sunset. The second book is a poetic fireworks display rendered in evocatively textured black and white. The bursts follow zigzagging trajectories as they fall into the stillness of the landscape, or else cluster together in star-like constellations. A voice is paired with the images, “Do you remember those things I’ve told you in my mind,” which visually mimics the motion of the fireworks. When viewed together, both books explore these visual wonders, both natural and manmade, as opportunities for intimate moments of shared reflection.
