Silence is Sexy is a zine which targets institutions within contemporary society and the human or animal reaction that often seek to thwart those institutions. Danish artist Michael Norre made this book with a consciousness of the Trump administration, consumerism, social media, air pollution in China, and other forces that present an imminent threat to mankind. As a counterpoint, Norre offers the hope of resistance by positioning several controversial pop culture figures who were actively critical of authority, including Nina Simone, Andy Warhol, and Ice Cube. However, they are frozen in time as silent reminders of protest who are no longer active. Norre presents the idea that being inactive is a choice in and of itself.
