The main focus of my work is to understand and interpret universal emotion and human experiences through somewhat fleeting moments and overlooked details in everyday life. - from the artist.
Quevedo very much encapsulates this in her book, as she gathers newspaper clippings and through a process of redaction, extracts hidden meaning in a way that would otherwise be overlooked. Her language is poetic and draws upon themes of pain, suffering, happiness, and homecoming. Her images - plants, grilling a steak, dogs, wrinkled sheets - express the small moments in life, which compiled with text create a powerful and contemplative viewing experience.
