“…These tiny peeks into Krishtalka’s first year as a Canadian expatriate living in Berlin reveal a world of debauchery and kindness, breakdowns and lazy afternoons in sun-drenched parks, cute fresh-faced guys and the city’s eternal grime. Part diary, part social history, A Berlin Diary is a loving but realistic look at a city and a protagonist in transition – both coming into new selves, neither sure on their feet.” -R.M. Vaughan, writing in Momus Magazine.
A Berlin Diary is an ongoing record of the unfolding of my life following a move to Berlin. It is structured as a cinematic storyboard in a series of narrative episodes. These six books are the first 15 chapters of the entire project, (with more books intended to come - the entire project to date numbers 51 chapters), and document my first three months in the city: the exploration of the excesses, darkness and tenderness of its famed queer scene; an excitement of a new emergent life; and a coping with a life left behind.
This set of 6 zines includes 140 pages, and is profusely illustrated in color and black and white. The full project is archived at http://aberlindiary.tumblr.com.
