“AUG003 is the “pictogram-titled” release by nomad, artist and baseball card enthusiast Daniel Newman.
Side A comprises field recordings made in various undisclosed locations while conducting assorted unnamed activities. From his vast library of recordings made throughout the year 2010, a few were selected and digitally manipulated, resulting in this untitled and ethereal 30 minute catalog of short vignettes.
Side B is the seemingly infinite sprawl through a non-narrative “text-to-speech” novella which was created by compiling random web text. This text document, when read aloud at top speed by the speech function in a word processing software, makes audible a sort of personal interior monolog. The recording’s endless roam lacks overall anecdotal logic or pattern, while quantifying bits of information in an excessively divisive way. With AUG003‘s 60 minute duration and multi-paneled, all-black cover hermetically-sealed in plastic over wrap, an adjective best suited might be “maximal”.” – from the label.
