Since its founding in 1990, Texte zur Kunst has been a forum for controversial discussions and contributions by internationally leading writers on contemporary art and culture. Alongside ground-breaking essays, the Berlin-based quarterly magazine offers interviews, roundtable discussions and extensive reviews on art, film, music, market and fashion as well as on art history, theory and cultural politics. Each issue is devoted to a different topic, with selected reviews published in both German and English.
The topic of this issue is Romanticism, with contributors examining the role emotion plays in contemporary art. Features include a roundtable discussion on Romanticism, art and melancholy with Felix Ensslin, Jörg Heiser, Juliane Rebentisch, André Rottmann, and Jan Verwoert; Alain Ehrenberg's "Depression: Discontent in the Civilization or new Style of Sociality"; and Dominic Eichler's examination of the legacy of feminism and surrealism.
